This is Pain 101. Your instructor's Casey Jones!

Goongala!

Did this during a several week stretch in the Spring of 2004. It's a pencil drawing, fully painted in Photoshop, with several textures applied.

Casey Jones is such a cool character and I had often wanted to work him into some SykoGrafix. So I gave him a piece of his own. I was originally just going to draw him just standing there looking cool with his hockey stick, but then I got the idea to tell a story and have him beating up some punks. Thus members of the Purple Dragon Gang entered into the equation. I more or less used the character designs from the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series by 4Kids for Casey and the three punks.

Went for a gritty, New York at night feel with this one. I took several visual cues from the animated series, but added slightly more realism and roughed it up around the edges to make it look a bit grittier and less graphic. The result sacrificed some of the great bright colours I had when I started with it in favor of the moody lighting, but the darker atmosphere makes it worthwhile.

It had been about a full year since I had done any Ninja Turtle fan art! And neither this one nor the last TMNT piece I did, Shredder Vs. Splinter, actually feature any Ninja Turtles! Go figure.
