She's cast a spell on me!

I'm not really big on the whole fantasy role playing game thing, but I do like Record of Lodoss Wars. I even had the pleasure of listening to creator Ryo Mizuno speak at a convention in Toronto once. Deedlit the high elf is such a great, classic character design, and so I did my best to capture that with this picture.

Again, this was for my Fall 2002 Anime painting session, where I painted this picture over several weeks as a demonstration of watercolour and coloured pencil techniques. Where as with Vash I used a warm colour scheme, I sought out to counter that with a cooler colour scheme in this case. Kind of makes things look magical. There are several colours used in certain areas that people would not normally associate the areas where they are applied. Look at the subtle use of blue on the hair and skin, for example.

I think some of her costume is a bit off model because I think some of the animation cels I had as reference were originally drawn off model, but it's nothing serious. Unfortunately this scan isn't the best, but it'll do.
