Dragon Ball Z's Mr. Nice Guy.

Yep, Goku is the kind of guy who will defeat an ultimate evil opponent, then let him go free because he's just such a nice guy. Then he goes and tell his son that he's not using his full power. What a goof. Still, I find it hilarious that there are so many Hardcore Dragon Ball fans than absolutely hate this guy. Personally, I don't really give it much thought. I'm just in it for the fighting!

This was originally done as an example in manga style inking for my class. Note the smooth subtleties of the line work. I made sure to scan it in case I ever wanted to colour it, and so here we are. This was the first time I had ever coloured something in a more animation cel style, as I was usually using more gradual shading techniques at the time. It came out nicely though, and I learned a lot from it. This was also an experiment in using Abobe Streamline to make the lines look smooth, and more Photoshop experimentation on the background (which really sucks).

I totally forget when I finished this. Some time in the summer or fall of 2001, I guess. At any rate, it was coloured almost a year after it was first drawn and inked.
