Naruto Uzumaki! Believe it!

This Naruto painting is an example I did for a class that I taught in the Winter of 2006. I used watercolour paints and coloured pencils on cold press illustration board.

I like this picture because of how much personality it has. I wanted to capture the wreckless intensity of the character. He's got the focused, ready-to-fight look on his face, but that smile means he's having fun too. Both the drawing itself and the colours make it that way. I always thought it was cool when he was drawn holding something between his teeth, so I put a kunai in there. The reflected red light is meant to evoke a feeling of rage and fury, and I'm really happy with how the colours pop in this one.
