Revive a Soul!

This is another anime character portrait done with water colour paints and coloured pencils on cold press illustration board. I finished this in the Summer of 2004 as part of my anime painting class for demonstration purposes, along with the Inu Yasha painting.

I mostly used the Shonen Jump manga as reference. I was originally going to colour Amidamaru's spirit form in yellow as seen in the few coloured images I saw in the manga, but the anime colours him blue instead so I went with that instead. I think the reflected blue glow adds a lot. The anime also uses a pink hue for the sky at night, and I thought that was pretty unique so I used colours like that for the background.

This scan doesn't really do justice to the original, but it's good enough.
