Battle Protocol!

TAI from Transformers: Robots in Disguise

From Transformers: Robots in Disguise, it's TAI: Tactical Artificial Intelligence.

Yep, she sure is cute. But she's not really there. By that I mean she's a computer generated hologram, not a real girl. And she's the daughter of the Teletran 1 computer from the original Transformers series.

RiD is a pretty fun show. It's full of anime cliches, being that it's the American version of the 2000 Japanese Transformers series, Car Robots. It's pretty light when compared to something like Beast Machines. It's more of a silly kids show, but the people responsible for the dub have managed to make it entertaining for any age. They've even thrown in a couple of references to past Transformers series that make us old timers smile. Oh yeah, and the toys rock too.

TAI here is one of those "extra" characters that are just there to help the story along, so she doesn't have a widely available action figure or anything. But I'm sure she's got a good size fan base.

One day I just got really inspired to draw this character. I thought that it would be a quick and fun job. The whole thing only took me two evenings to finish. The inking was a pain, because my ink was bleeding a lot. I had to do it twice before I was happy with it. I did my best to use a cel style of colouring in Photoshop to match the anime feel of the series. I was still experimenting with that style at the time. I'm not really all that happy with this anymore, so I may possibly revisit the character again.

Anime babes and Transformers: Together at last!

Finished early Fall, 2001.
