Fresh From the Sewers.

Finally, after far too long, I made a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles group shot. I mostly based the Turtles themselves on their animation character designs from the 4Kids TV series, but I put a little of my own touches in there as well. It was a bit tough to compose an interesting drawing with all 4 of the Turtles together. I wanted Leonardo to be the focal point, so you see more of him. I like the way Raphael's expression turned out, and Donatello is in a cool pose. Michelangelo is kind of the odd one out. Wasn't really sure what to do with him, so he's just sort of there. I'm just glad I was able to start a drawing with all 4 Turtles and have it good enough so that I could finish the whole thing, because there had been a few false starts before.

This image started it's life as a drawing in my sketch book which was retraced on a clean sheet of paper using various grades of pencils and scanned into the computer. I added colour underneath and over top of the lines using Photoshop. Several photographic elements were added to give the sewer background that nasty, grungy texture, but much of that is still my own painting. It took a long time to finish this piece, but I think the results were worth the effort. I'm pretty happy with it and I hope that the TMNT fan community likes it too.
