Out of the blue one day I decided that it would be a good idea to draw Batman and his crew. As a fan of the 90's Batman animated series as well as The Brave and The Bold, I've been influenced a lot by Batman's various animated appearances, but I didn't want to just copy a pre-existing style. Instead I wanted to try and draw these characters in my own way, without using any reference, and just come up with my own interpretation of them. This is the result of that experiment.
The main reason why I wanted to do this was because I thought it would be cool to draw Robin with really long spiky hair in the front, like maybe he would punk himself up as part of changing from his everyday identity. From there I figured Batgirl with go a bit gothy with purple lipstick and elaborate eye makeup. Nightwing I just tried to make look as cool and sleek as possible. Batman himself, well, he's Batman. What more can be said?
I took their costumes and symbols mostly from memory and just made up the rest as I saw fit, trying to put some logic into my design choices based on who the characters are. I especially like Batgirl's "cute" bat-symbol. It's like the Hello Kitty of bat-symbols.
