Finished Spring 2007, Pencil & Photoshop.
From the "Cybertron" saga of Transformers comes this artwork of several characters. From top to bottom we have the ancient Autobot warrior Vector Prime, his trusty Minicon Safeguard, Lori, Sixspeed, Reverb, Coby, Bud, and of course, Jolt. Not many artists draw the humans or Minicons, and so I thought I would be different and give it a try. I had to use a lot of reference to get everything looking like it does on the TV series.
I started this artwork in April of 2006 and finished April 2007. Yep, that's a whole year! Of course, I was doing other things at the time too and only working on this every once in awhile. I had originally drawn this in pencil and scanned it into Photoshop, but as I was digitally painting it I ended up pretty much painting over almost everything I had drawn because I found the drawing wasn't very good. But it mostly came together ok in the end, and went on display at the TFCon 2007 art table.
I did this painting because Transformers Cybertron/Galaxy Force is a great series with excellent toys and animation, and so even though there's a lot of excitement with the movie and classic Transformers, we should not forget this significant contribution to Transformers history.
