Meet Amber
The third of my colour themed Anime girls, Amber here was drawn simply so she would round out the other two, Magenta and Cyan, to create the 3 secondary colours of light. I designed her to be a bit more bubbly and more of a dreamer than the other two. She has Hollywood ambitions, hence the stars she wears. Unlike Magenta and Cyan, who were originally mascots for my class and website respectively, Amber doesn't really have anything to do yet. She's drawn in the same style, where small details like the stitching on jeans are made ridiculously large.
This particular drawing was more of an experiment in expression and emotion through both the facial details and the body language. It's not the way I would have liked to have introduced everyone to Amber on this site, but I'm tired of keeping this bottled up.
I finished this piece in Winter of 2002. It was just a sketch that I wasn't going to do anything with at first, but when a school project called for making a dynamic looking grid, I decided to finish it off, put it into a grid, and print it out. This is what I came up with.
The teacher really liked this and thought that the different sized shots really made it appealing. The other students liked it because of the texture the tiles had. It was so well liked, in fact, that it was hung up for a student display. That was pretty cool. What was not cool, however, was that I never saw it again. When I went to go pick up my stuff at the end of the year, this one had mysteriously vanished. The teacher said there had been a few thefts, and that this might have unfortunately been one of them. So, Amber may not have a job yet, but she's got at least one fan. Jackass.
