Sand Dragon

Sand Dragon

Now this is one bad looking dragon. It was a challenge to work with yellow, as it's not an easy colour to shade with, and plus there's the fact that yellow is kind of a "wussy" colour. But I say that this guy is far from wussy.

Originally I was going to have the Obelisk (I think that's spelled right) going straight up and down the middle of the page, but that was boring, so i tilted the axis. This adds drama and makes things look awkward, in such away that it catches your attention.

The rocky skin is befitting of a creature who would live in a harsh desert climate, and the three horns give him a very regal look. Rather than just having a boring baron desert background, I added some Egyptian location details to make it fun. I enjoy ancient Egyptian culture, and I find the Asian influence of the dragon's design to be a neat contrast to the background. For the writing on the side I found a hieroglyphic font and typed in "FEAR ME".

This was finished early summer 2000.
